The System for the Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher Education (SEAES) was created in 2021 as a result of a transformation process in Mexico. The SEAES was conceived as the organic and articulated set of authorities, higher education institutions, and accreditation agencies, as well as mechanisms and techniques for the evaluation of higher education.
The SEAES assumes leadership of the public policy for the evaluation and accreditation of higher education, not as an accreditation agency, but rather as the entity responsible for coordinating actors and actions in Mexico.
From its design, the SEAES collected inputs and proposals on higher education in an exercise of broad and inclusive participation. These transformations have led to the re-signification of the evaluation of higher education and have implied a renewed impetus for educational excellence, not as an end in itself, but rather as a means for continuous improvement.
Its collective design has involved students, higher education institutions, authorities, academics, experts, accreditation organizations, among others. It has also promoted dialogue through meetings, working groups, courses, and informative conferences throughout the country.
The implementation of the SEAES promotes institutional self-evaluation, evaluator training, nationwide consensus-building, articulation of accreditation organizations, co-evaluation, meta-evaluation of the SEAES, as well as evaluation of state higher education systems, subsystems, and the national higher education system. All with a focus on continuous improvement and maximum learning achievement.
